My Personal Art Journey

Even as a young child, I knew my life journey would involve art.  I am not sure even my parents fully understood why I was so obsessed with art.   I have always known that for some reason God has given me this gift of art and the love of sharing art with others.

My journey has allowed me to explore several art forms including clay and fiber, but creating colorful expressionistic acrylic paintings of natural organic subject matter has been my passion for many years. This year I have discovered a fascination and interest in mixed media mosaics.  Arranging and rearranging a variety of colorful handmade clay tiles, glass tiles and even pieces of costume jewelry in a mixed media mosaic is such a rewarding form of self expression.

Although I am retired now, I have had the privilege of teaching the creative process in different capacities in Richardson ISD.  The first 12 years of my teaching career I taught art at the elementary level.  The last part of my public school career was spent teaching gifted education in the Department of Advanced Academics (REACH) for RISD .

For the last 20 years I have taught Summer Art Camps and Art Classes for students  in my home studio.  There is nothing like sharing my passion for art with a group of excited kids!  I also teach Adult Art Classes in small groups in my home throughout the year.  Check out any upcoming classes under the Classes for Adults or Classes for Children sections.
